Lex Delles in Bangalore to round off his working visit to India

On Wednesday 9 September, as the final leg of his working visit, Lex Delles travelled to Bangalore, where he attended the 9th Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX), a major trade fair in India dedicated to space technologies, which this year brought together 300 exhibitors from 21 countries.

On this occasion, the Minister met with the President of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to discuss the development of the commercial space sector in India and opportunities for cooperation with Luxembourg-based organisations. A meeting with the Scientific Secretary of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) also provided an opportunity to identify specific projects with a view to deepening bilateral cooperation in the space sector.

Lex Delles also visited the stands of several Indian space start-ups, including Skyroot, Galaxeye and Bellatrix Aerospace, and discussed potential synergies with the Luxembourg space ecosystem with their founders.

The day concluded with a networking reception focusing on the theme of innovation, attended by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar.

The event brought together around thirty participants to explore new partnership opportunities.

This working visit helped to strengthen Luxembourg’s position as a strategic gateway to Europe for Indian businesses, whilst opening up new prospects for Luxembourg-based companies in the rapidly growing Indian market.

At the end of the visit, Lex Delles said: “This visit has helped to strengthen economic relations between Luxembourg and India and to identify new opportunities for cooperation in strategic sectors such as space, innovation and industrial technologies. The meetings held in New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore confirmed the dynamism and potential of India, the world’s fifth-largest economy and one of the main drivers of global economic growth. The discussions held over the past few days provide a solid foundation for deepening our economic relations.”
