Presentation of Letters of Credence to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, 20 April 2026, Colombo

From 18 to 21 April 2026, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, H.E. Mr Christian Biever, visited Colombo, where he presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The ceremony was followed by an exchange with the President and a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, H.E. Mr Vijitha Herath.
 

On the margins of the official programme, the Ambassador and his Counsellor, Mr Maxime Victor, held meetings with the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka, resident Embassies of Luxembourg’s neighbour countries, and the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Sri Lanka, Mrs Suwaneetha Senanayake.

This first visit provided an opportunity to take stock of the long-standing diplomatic relations and to identify avenues for further strengthening the bilateral ties between Luxembourg and Sri Lanka.
