18th meeting of the India - Belgium Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) Joint Economic Commission in New Delhi

The 18th meeting of the India – Belgium Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) Joint Economic Commission took place on 9 April 2024 in New Delhi.

From Luxembourg, a delegation led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, H.E. Mr. Jean Olinger accompanied by the Political Director, H.E. Mrs. Veronique Dockendorf and the Luxembourg Ambassador, H.E Mrs. Peggy Frantzen participated in the meeting. Also accompanying the visiting delegation were the Deputy Head of Mission of the Luxembourg Embassy and a no. of Economic Counsellors.

 

The 18th India – BLEU Joint Economic Commission Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Jean Olinger, the President of the Board, Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Theodora Gentzis and the Secretary at Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Indian Government, Mr. Sunil Barthwal.

 

During the meeting, a no. of points were discussed on the state of India – Luxembourg as well as India – BLEU economic and trade relations which have grown considerably over the last years.

 

The meeting also saw participation from a no. of officials from different ministries and departments from India such as the Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Space, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), Invest India among others who made their interventions.

 

The discussions were also focused on the steps and initiatives to further grow the relations between India and the BLEU.
