Luxembourg: Partner Country at the 7th Bengal Global Business Summit

The Luxembourg Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Peggy Frantzen together with the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Kolkata, Mr. Rajat Dalmia as well as the Economic Counsellors of the Embassy, participated in the 7th edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit held in Kolkata from 21-22 November. The summit was organised by the State Government of West Bengal led by the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) in association with a number of industry bodies such as CII, FICCI and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata

The Grand Duchy participated as a Partner Country in this year’s Summit and four companies linked to Luxembourg were part of the Luxembourg delegation, namely Amer-Sil Ketex, Ceratizit, Rotarex and Boson Energy. This was the second time Luxembourg participated as a partner country at the Bengal Global Business Summit after its participation in 2019.

The summit was inaugurated on 21 November by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mrs. Mamata Banerjee at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata in the presence of industry leaders from India as well as foreign dignitaries.

International Session

After the inaugural session of the Summit, the Luxembourg Ambassador addressed the ''International Session'' of the Bengal Global Business Summit which was chaired by Dr. Amit Mitra, Principal Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister of West Bengal. 

During the International Session, the Ambassador highlighted the long-standing economic relations between Luxembourg and the state of West Bengal and the growing industrial presence of Luxembourg based companies Amer-Sil Ketex and Ceratizit

In addition, the Ambassador also highlighted the technologies and work done by Boson Energy and Rotarex and other Luxembourg companies in India. During her address, the Ambassador gave an overview of the growing sectors such as ICT and HealthTech that have an important contribution to the Luxembourg economy. Concluding her address, the Ambassador also highlighted the growing Luxembourg-India bilateral relations which are in its 75th year. 

 

Luxembourg Country Session

On 22 November, the Luxembourg Ambassador, along with the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Kolkata participated in the Luxembourg “Country Session” during the 7th Bengal Global Business Summit held at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata. This session was organised by the Luxembourg Embassy in association with the Government of West Bengal, the Luxembourg Honorary Consulate and the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata.

Representatives of Luxembourg based companies with presence in or links with West Bengal, gave an overview of their business during the Country session. Mr. Sarnath Bhaduri, Senior Vice President from Ceratizit India; Mr. Yasowant Roy, Director at Amer-Sil Ketex; Mr. Aditya Sharma, Director-Strategy and Senior Vice President-Asia at Boson Energy and Mr. Proddot Sahoo, General Manager-India & Middle East at Rotarex made presentations of their innovative technologies and high quality products.

A special address during the Luxembourg Country Session was given by Mr. Prabhat Mishra, Principal Secretary-Water Resources Investigation and Development Department at the Government of West Bengal. The closing remarks of this session were done by Mr. Mr. Ameya Prabhu, President of Indian Chamber of Commerce.
