Luxembourg Partner Country at the 5th Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata

Luxembourg participated for the first time as a ‘Partner Country’ in the Bengal Global Business Summit held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata from 7-8 February 2019. Six Luxembourgish companies, namely Amer-Sil Ketex , Arendt and Medernach , Boson Energy , Ceratizit Paul Wurth and Rotarex accompanied Ambassador Jean Claude Kugener to the Bengal Summit.

Amer-Sil Ketex , based in Kolkata, West Bengal, specialises in the production of industrial lead acid battery components and is also one of the largest manufacturers of tubular bags and technical textiles in India. The company has manufacturing facilities in Kharagpur in West Bengal and two other manufacturing facilities in India.

Arendt and Medernach  is the largest independent business law firm in Luxembourg, providing top-quality legal services, accompanied by a flexible approach and responsiveness in client relationships.

Boson Energy  provides thermal treatment solutions that produce local clean energy from locally available fuels such as waste and biomass residue. Boson Energy has in the recent past been a significant contributor to the Clean Ganga river project of the Government of India. 

Ceratizit  has been present in Kolkata, West Bengal, for more than 20 years. The Luxembourgish company provides engineering and mechanical machine solutions to various applications like metal cutting, wear protection, rods and wood - stone working. Ceratizit recently inaugurated its second manufacturing facility in Uluberia, West Bengal. 

Paul Wurth  has been present in India for over 25 years and has been working with both private and public steel companies for the development of their blast furnaces and coke oven plants. The company is now also developing digital products and solutions for iron making facilities. Paul Wurth has its central office for its Indian operations in Gurugram  and a manufacturing workshop in Bhubaneswar.

Rotarex  manufactures high performance valves, regulators and fittings for all gas applications, including ultra-high purity systems, laboratories, petrochemical, medical, automotive, fire suppression, cryogenic systems, liquid petroleum gas and other industrial applications. From their office in Mumbai, Rotarex is serving clients across various sectors including the automotive and the energy sector.

During the summit, the Ambassador met the Finance and Commerce Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Amit Mitra, the Chairman of the JSW Group, Mr. Sajjan Jindal, and other key stakeholders of the Indian industry.

During the Luxembourg country session, moderated by the Principal Secretary to the West Bengal Government, Mrs. Choten Lama, the Luxembourgish companies shared some of their excellent experiences in working in India as well as their perspectives for the future growth of the Indian market. In his introductory words, the Ambassador highlighted the strong bilateral relations with India in a variety of sectors, including finance, steel, manufacturing, satellites and renewable energies. The Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Kolkata, Mr Rajat Dalmia, concluded the session. During the two days of the summit, the Luxembourg pavilion received an overwhelming response from the business community and many B2B discussions took place.
