On May 6th, the Luxembourg Parliament (Chambre des Députés) adopted the “Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital” between Luxembourg and India.

The agreement had been signed in New Delhi on June 2nd 2008. After completion of the notification process by both countries, the treaty will enter into force on January 1st 2010 for Luxembourg and on April 1st for India.

It is expected that this agreement opens new horizons in the bilateral economic relationship. The agreement will boost the bilateral trade relations and stimulate the flow of capital, technology, and personnel from India to Luxembourg and vice-versa.
