Luxembourg ranked third most economically globalised country
Luxembourg has the third most globalised economy in the world. This conclusion resulted from a study by the Swiss university ETH Zurich on behalf of the think-tank the KOF Swiss Economic Institute. To calculate this “KOF Index of Globalisation", 23 variables from 187 countries were examined to calculate a ranking for each country.
The Grand Duchy performed particularly strongly on the economic front, scoring 91%, placing it just behind Singapore and Ireland in terms of its openness to the world's businesses. The survey looked at factors such as the ease by which trade is conducted and capital moved. The countries’ social and political openness to globalisation was also analysed. This put Luxembourg in the leading group of countries at 15th in the world with a score of 83.5%.
