Political relationship
The Luxembourg Government’s aim is to put the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on the political and economic map of India. It therefore opened an Embassy in Delhi on 27th February 2002. The Delhi mission is only one of four Embassies in Asia, the others being Beijing, Tokyo and Bangkok.
The political relationship between Luxembourg and India is excellent.
Relations are also excellent between India and the European Union (http://www.delind.ec.europa.eu/ ), of which Luxembourg is a founding member.
A number of bilateral agreements have been signed between the governments of Luxembourg and India :
· Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of health, signed in New Delhi on the 8th May 1996.
· Cultural agreement, signed in New Delhi on 10th September 1996.
· Agreement on cooperation for supply of equipment for cold chain system for blood and blood products, signed in New Delhi on the 15th April 1997.
· Air Services Agreement, signed in New Delhi, on the 8th of January 2001.
· Agreement by exchange of letters on steel technology, signed in New Delhi on 4th/17th February 2003.
· Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital, signed in New Delhi on 2nd of June 2008.
Ratification law adopted on May 6th by the Luxembourg Parliament (Chambre des Députés). The agreement will enter into force on January 1st 2010 for Luxembourg and on April 1st 2010 for India.
· Social Security Agreement : Signed between the two countries on 30th September 2009.
The agreement entered into force after completion of the ratification process by both countries.

Bilateral visits regularly take place between representatives of both countries. Their number has been steadily increasing over the years :
